Fenix NTM Faced Ply
Marketed as 'the smart material of interior design', this innovative, carbon neutral surface is heat resistant, water-repellent, hygienic and anti-fingerprint. Suitable for all surfaces, Fenix can be used on both worktops and fronts.
Fenix NTM stands for NanoTech Matt. The material has a matt surface which utilises innovative nanotechnology. Its multilayer nanostructure construction gives it unique and highly specialised characteristics. The surface is anti-fingerprint, soft to the touch and extremely durable, so much so that it can withstand serious knocks and scratches.
Fenix is also heat-resistant and should the surface have superficial micro-scratches, heat actually helps to repair them. Fenix state “The surface of the material is scattered with a dense grid of cross-polymers with their own memory, which can be reactivated by the application of heat.”
The Fenix is bonded onto a birch plywood core sourced from an FSC-certified supplier. The birch ply edges of each item are then hand-finished in our East London workshop and a premium quality hard wax oil is applied.
Fenix materials, manufactured by Arpa Industriale, have the added bonus of being carbon neutral. Based on the total quantity of square metres sold monthly, Fenix will contribute to the reduction of CO2 emitted into the atmosphere through carbon offsetting projects. Read more here.
In addition, 100% of the electrical energy used in production comes from renewable resources. 18% of this from solar panels installed on the roof of its Arpa production site. Read more here.
Fenix is available as standard Fenix NTM and Fenix NTM Bloom.
Fenix NTM Bloom goes one step further in sustainability and features Bloom technology which has been developed to include 50% lignin resin. Lignin is a natural polymer found in timber and a waste product from the paper industry. This Bloom technology reduces CO2 in manufacturing by up to 26%.
Both are available in a range of colours, samples of which can be obtained directly from the Fenix website.
